Janice Druian, award winning, Central Oregon oil painter is best known for her landscapes that capture the beauty of the isolated parts of Oregon, Arizona,  Idaho, Wyoming, California and other western locations. 

ARTIST STATEMENT

"Ars  est longa;vita brevis"  "?Art is long; live is brief"

With this famous Latin phrase in mind, my goal is to spend as much time painting as possible.

I have the privilege of living in the High Desert of Central Oregon.  From my windows I look down upon the wild and scenic Deschutes River.  Our panoramic view includes the Cascade mountains to the west, and the Ochoco mountains to the east. 

 At times I feel not of this present time. It is as if I "remember" a life between 1900 and 1920. My inspiration and spirit resides in that other time influenced by the great painters of that era: Edgar Payne, Guy Rose, William Wendt and of course Maynard Dixon. 

I pursue a visual life that is surrounded only by the vast horizons, tumultuous skies and soul replenishing solitude of the remote west. This vision, and the beautiful reality of my corner of the west allows me to paint and fuels my enthusiasm for painting.

I have   with some of the best contemporary plein air and  landscape artists? John Poon, Richard McKinley, Ken Auster, Morgan Samuel Price, Bob Rohm,  and my mentor and personal friend, Jean LeGassick.

Inspired by the work of others, and living in a beautiful part of the west, every day I am surrounded by the beauty I want to honor through my painting.
