SISTERS FOURTH FRIDAY ART STROLL
FEBRUARY 28th 4-6pm
Three-Dimensional Art Celebration
In addition to showcasing the latest work from our long-time contributors, we are very excited to welcome our new ceramics artist,
MOLLY NEWBERN
Molly Newbern is a ceramics artist who recently settled down in Bend. Originally from a small town on the coast of North Carolina, she was inspired to begin her career as a potter following her time living in the Middle East where she was working on becoming a translator. Her time in Jordan and Turkey opened her eyes to the beauty of utilitarian objects and led her to expand her studies at Appalachian State University to include ceramics. She quickly fell in love with the process of creation, drawing inspiration for her pottery from the many places she has traveled. Each place has left a unique mark on the style and character of her ceramics, and Bend is no different. Surrounded by the Pacific Northwest’s incredible landscapes, Molly began to work with a more natural and subtle color palette, creating hundreds of new glazes that recreated specific colors around her. She then chose and paired those colors carefully to evoke the same sense of calm she feels while out in Central Oregon’s high desert. Molly’s goal is to create functional works of art that are centered around bringing people together.
Also Featuring…
LESLEE BURTT & CHRIS WARREN
Presenting a professional duo, Chris Warren and Leslee Burtt, and their award-winning gourds and basketry at the Clearwater Gallery.
TERRY DAVIS
Terry Davis first discovered the gourds she uses in her artwork while on a road trip through Northern California. While she appreciated the unique beauty of these unadorned gourds, she eventually decided to use them as the canvas for the carving, burning, and staining that leads to her artistic creations. Terry is always learning new ways to use her gourds as her imagination finds expression in the many signature pieces that she creates each year.
BOB BOSQUET
Bob Bosquet's work is timeless and simple with clean lines that highlight the natural beauty of the wood. His intention is to make art that can be enjoyed and appreciated for generations. Bob’s woodwork ranges in scope and size from jewelry boxes, to tables, to custom creations. His remarkable craftsmanship and careful choice of wood make each functional design a unique work of art.
